We humans like to move around.  Sometimes we visit new places because we're curious.  Other times we move from one place to another because certain conditions force us to do so.  Whatever the reasons, throughout history we can see so many examples of people moving from one place to another.  When we move, we bring our culture with us and at the same time, we are exposed to new cultures.  It's only natural that things eventually blend together. Recently, we've been posting a lot about our Home 4 The World service-learning

The Iftar celebration that unfolded in Siena at the Oratorio Salesiano La Magione on April 3rd, 2024, was nothing short of remarkable. Words like amazing, extraordinary, and fascinating perfectly encapsulate the experience, yet unexpected and surprising are also appropriate. Our students from U.S. universities such as Siena College, SUNY Geneseo, The Ohio State University, and Eastern University bore witness to one of the most unique intercultural events in our 20-year history as a study abroad program. Engaged in the Service-Learning project, Home 4 The World, SIS students confront the realities that

Yet, our ambitions have always been broader. Our relationship with the city of Brussels began when five young students from Siena chose to go to university at the ULB Université Libre De Bruxelles.  Through them, we were able to see the

It’s been a long and winding road, but SIS is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024! In 2004 Lavinia Bracci set out on her own to create a new standard for full-immersion study abroad in Siena and Tuscany.  SIS was to be a new sort of study abroad experience where students would be exposed to the Italian culture from all directions and challenged to interact with, understand and grow within that culture.  SIS has been all of that and more, but it hasn’t always been easy.  Our unique school relies on

Over the past few months, SIS has been designing a COIL project on Intercultural Dialogue in collaboration with University College Utrecht. Today, on September 12th, we held the first meeting introducing the goals of the project, its partners and possibilities of its implementation in beyond the digital world. This and upcoming meetings will involve UCU Italian and Intercultural Communication students, our SIS students for the Global Citizenship course and our refugee students from Project Proventus in line with Home4theWorld. The meetings will revolve around exploring the various facets of Intercultural

Just days ago, alongside the opening of our Fall 2023 semester, we opened the door once again to our Home4theWorld students. Coming from various countries all around the globe, these students attend our classes with a common goal: learning the Italian language.
